Further Information
John Bude, real name Ernest Elmore, was born in England in 1901. His series characters were Superintendent Meredith and Inspector Sherwood, in a long-running series of well-respected books. Inexplicably, none of these, bar the last one, were published n the United States. This may go some way to explaining why John Bude is such an underrated and , amongst many readers, unknown author. Collectors in the genre are well aware of his work, all of which is keenly sought after by collectors. Pre war titles in jacket are particularly scarce.
