SYNOPSIS A HOUSE PARTY assembled in a luxurious house on Fratton Island, off the coast of Maine, for a lazy summer holiday. What more ordinary or more modern? Yet gradually, individually and severally, the members of the party become convinced that the island is haunted by the ghost of old Skull-an el-Cross-Bones Fratton, the seventeenth century pirate, on account of whose atrocities it was originally known as "Murder Island"; and it is not long before the entire population of this summer paradise finds itself in a state bordering on terror.
