Ted Lewis Author Biography - Information About the Author
Ted Lewis (Edward) was born in 1940 and died in 1982, he is best known for Jack's Return Home who was the subject of the Michael Caine film Get Carter.
A collectable author, thanks largely to the iconic film it has to be said. Jack's Return Home does still read well in a period sense, especially if, like us, you live in Lincolnshire not too far from Scunthorpe, the original setting for the book.
It should be regarded as a rare book, we've had a couple though, especially in collectable condition, ex-library copies seem to make up a large part of the print run.
In our experience it's not the rarest title though, albeit the most valuable, Plender for example is much rarer, try finding a copy of G.B.H. even though it's a paperback original, I don't think we've ever seen one.
We've included paperback first editions too, they're held in the British Library, as they're collectable in their own right, not just by completeists but for those who find the hardback firsts too expensive.
This is not just a complete list of books in order for the reader but also a bibliography for the book collector. We've included all the important editions and all American editions when applicable.
