Eve Prence, a very spectacular authoress, is found murdered in the Bohemian resort which she runs as an hotel for herself and her friends, and Asey Mayo, with the assistance of Miss Elspeth Adams, has the job of his life sorting out their tangled relationships. The denouement is unexpected and the detection ingenious, but it is, as before, the wit and philosophy of Asey Mayo which give the book its particular distinction. |
