This view was corrected by two murders, and various other events centring upon the lonely cottage known as the " Wilderness,' Scotland Yard began to take an interest, and soon discovered a mysterious connection with the West African colony of Balooma ; and when Mr. Neptune Jones, paying guest at the Vicarage, confessed that in his native country lie was a god and that his country was Balooma, the excitement became almost international. |
