Octavus Roy Cohen .American, Born in Charleston, South Carolina, 26 June 1891. Educated at Porter Military Academy, Charleston; Clemson Agricultural College, South Carolina. B.S. 1911; studied law in his father's office, and admitted to the South Carolina Bar, 1913. Served in the United States Naval Reserve, 1939-40: Lieutenant. Married Inez Lopez in 1914; one son. Civil engineer, Tennessee Coal Iron and Railroad Company. 1909-10; newspaperman for Birmingham Ledger, Charleston News and Courier, Bayonne Times, New Jersey, and Newark Morning Star, before practising law, Charleston. 1913-15. Self-employed writer after 1915. Litt. D.: Birmingham Southern College, 1927. Died 6 January 1959.
