Further Information
John Arnold was born in 1903 and that's that! We remain
otherwise ignorant. Clearly, he was not a prolific author, unless this
was a pseudonym? We would welcome any information from family members in
order to rectify this situation and to preserve the name. The English
1st editions benefit from extremely attractive jackets. The one above is
credited only with -B-, so bears further investigation.
This information was sent in by Mary Nokes of the Braughing Local History Society:
On behalf of our local history society I'm researching people, killed during World War 2, who came from the village of Braughing, East Hertfordshire. John Arnold appears on our two war memorials. The one inside the church reads:
"Lance Corporal John Arnold, Royal Army Service Corps, August 13th 1945, aged 42."
I understand that he was captured when Hong Kong fell, Christmas 1941. His mother, Lillian Arnold, was also a writer. They lived in one half of an old house in the village known as Braughingbury.
