The books have been a huge worldwide success and are very collectable.

How to spot a genuine signed copy from a fake
The author's signature does vary slightly so don't  analyze every loop
Look for flow and lack of hesitation, a fake is easy to spot.
He does sign quite a few books so signed copies are not unusual
Here's a few examples of genuine signatures showing the odd variant, last one being a publishers signed bookplate

Jo Nesbo Brief Biography
Jo Nesbo, born in Norway born 29 March 1960, is a crime writing phenomenon, one of the current best selling in the world. He's a man of many parts, writer, sportsman and musician. His books are excellent, I've read them all personally, and they benefit hugely from superb translations by Don Bartlett. Bartlett's work should not be overlooked as many a good foreign language novel has suffered in translation, these are superbly done.
