The Wages of Fear was the basis for the  1953 French film noir, "The Wages of Fear," directed by Henri-Georges Clouzot and starring Yves Montand and Charles Vanel, and an interesting American remake in 1977 titled "Sorcerer.".

Georges Arnaud Biography
Georges Arnaud was  pseudonym used by Henri Girard, born 1917 in France and died 1987 in Spain. The authorís father was Georges Girard, a government official  who was murdered along with Arnaudís aunt at the family house France in 1941. the author was accused of the murders and spent 19 months in prison before he was declared innocent in 1943. Disgusted with his treatment the author moved from France to Algeria, where he supported the Algerian independence movement during its war against France
