Further Information
Francis Clifford, born 1 December 1917 and passed away in
1975, was a pen name for Arthur Leonard Bell Thompson. He served with
great distinction during the Second World War and was awarded the
Distinguished Service Order. The above checklist only includes his
mystery fiction, there were four other books written which were
primarily war based. As with some other authors we have touched on,
Clifford tends to lean more to the thriller rather than a strict
criminous theme. English editions precede the American editions and
there are a couple of alternative titles, which we have noted. There are
no known series characters and, unusually, the later books tend to be
better than the earlier ones. |
