Synopsis IN a narrow lane that runs into Trumpington Street, Cambridge, the dead body of a baronet—run through with a French bayonet —was found on the Monday night of May Week. Other murders quickly followed, day after day. Colonel Nugent, the Chief Constable of South Cambridgeshire, and his " amateur " friend, Major Hem-yock discovered two things from the start—the connecting link between the murdered people and the motive.
